I.S.S. – Iberian Ships Surveyors was founded and initiated its activities in 2005. Our company is fully independent and renders marine and engineering consultancy to Clients at any geographical location, but in particular in Portugal and Spain.

ANTONIO J. P. FIGUEIREDO

António Figueiredo is a Portuguese citizen, having 31 years experience in the marine industry.
After having graduated António Figueiredo served as an Officer in the Portuguese Army during one year and afterwards worked with shore based industry, shipyards/repair companies and a Classification Society within Europe, prior to be employed by SCUA in April 1991 where he worked until September 2005.
In October 2005 he formed the Surveying Company IBERIAN SHIPS SURVEYORS where he holds the position of General Manager and Senior Surveyor. During his time as Surveyor with SCUA-Lisbon he gained a broad experience with Hull and Machinery repairs, as well as fire damages, grounding damages, salvage operations, collision damage analysis and loss of hire matters. He has also good knowledge and experience in preparing of repair specifications for major repairs, following up tender procedures and settlement of repair accounts. He has also been engaged in pollution cases and other technical matters for P&I Clubs.

JOAQUIM J. RATO P. SANTOS

Joaquim Rato is a Portuguese citizen, having 8 years of professional experience, whereof four years in the marine industry.
After having graduated Joaquim Rato served as a Marine Officer of the Portuguese Merchant Marine during one year whereupon he disembarked with the rank of Trainee Engineer and subsequently worked as Maintenance Manager for a major international Enterprise “Carrefour” specialised on goods storage and distribution, and finally as marine surveyor until the present date. During his time as Marine Engineer and Surveyor he gained a broad experience with Hull and Machinery repairs, dry-dockings.
He has also good knowledge and experience in preparing repair specifications for major repairs, following up tender procedures and settlement of repair accounts.
He has also been engaged in pollution cases and other technical matters for P&I Clubs.
